Hello again friends!
So upon completing one year as an official crossfitter (Sep. 30, 2014) and quite a ways away from my next endurance event, I thought why not take on this Whole30 Challenge.
Basically it’s a month long event where you go strictly paleo (the caveman diet), eating only clean foods. Basically no junk food, nothing processed, just what you can obtain from our environment naturally. And by environment, I mean the grocery store.
It’s a bit harder for me since I’m a type one diabetic and since I exercise so much I usually go to those quick go to’s for the extra carbs/sugar. Clif bars, Gu Chomps, Gu Gels, Honey Stinger Waffles, Capri Suns, Trail Mix and the list goes on and on. Is jerky paleo?
But I thought, why not challenge myself! Yay!!! New goals to accomplish.
Before the challenge I did a body fat test and to my surprise I was 208 lbs & 15% body fat! I’ve always had body image issues (even though you guys always see me running around in speedos), but I was completely surprised when I got those results. And for the benchmark WOD for the challenge we had to complete an 800m run, 30 air squats, 30 push ups, 30 sit ups & 10 strict pull ups for time. I DID IT IN 5:29!!! I thought I would at least finish in seven minutes. I really need to stop doubting myself.
My goal after completing this challenge (and I know it probably won’t happen by the end of the month) and hopefully by the end of the year, I want to get down to 195 lbs & <10% body fat.
The thing I honestly believe I’ll miss most is my peanut butter & quest bars. =(((
