Birthday Weekend!!!

And what a weekend it was.

I honestly had no idea what I would be doing that weekend, because honestly, I don’t really have all this crazy hype about my birthday. While yes, it is another year that I’ve been on this Earth, I kinda feel like it’s just another day. I don’t really have those weekend long or week long celebrations that some others do. And I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that either, I just don’t really make that big a deal out of my birthday.

So Friday, I did absolutely nothing. lmao. I got out of work and headed to one of my favorite places… IMT Crossfit!

I missed the morning class, so I wanted to get one more workout in before the weekend. Started off with a mile run and then did some stretches and then went on to do the class. It was a cool one too! We had (2) WODs to perform and we got to pick each of them. So for WOD A, it was your choice. It was a 7 min AMRAP of either A) 200m run, B) double unders or C) Burpees. Take a wild guess which one I chose?

Then for WOD B we had to choose as a class to either do A) (1 round) 150 wall balls, 30 deadlifts, B) (2 rounds) 75 wall balls, 15 deadlifts or C) (3 rounds) 50 wall balls, 10 deadlifts. We chose “C” and had a 14 min time cap. I did my deadlifts at 225 lbs and I finished within the time! I was happy about that and then proceeded to do a 2000m row cool down. I headed home, hung out with Sergeant and the gf and went to bed because apparently I had a surprise early in the morning.

I woke up Saturday drank some coffee, ate some eggs and we were off. Danays had told me we had somewhere to be at 8 in the morning. She surprised me with an amazing hand made card and skydiving!!! I was super excited because I have always wanted to go skydiving. We got to the place (Miami Skydiving Center), and just waited our turn. I tried to convince them to let me jump in my speedo, the manager and everyone was down, except the guy I was actually jumping with! Still an awesome dude though. His name is Hugh and he’s in the Air Force Reserve and does skydiving full time! So we were finally on our plane and on our way up. It was funny, I wasn’t nervous or excited, I was completely complacent. Just chillin. So finally we reached an altitude of 10,000 ft and we were ready to jump. He popped open the door and told me to slide my legs out. I was too big to do that, so I had to lay back and swing my legs out the door.

He asked if I was ready or not, I said sure, let’s go and with a sudden jerk, we were off!

We came out of the plane with a straight nose dive towards the ground, he then asked if I was ready again? And I asked for what?

And all of a sudden I didn’t know which way was up or down. We did a couple flips and then we leveled out. We were suspended for a what felt like a minute or two just looking over the landscape, and then finally with a tug he deployed the parachute and we were just coasting. It was amazing. I was able to see the Everglades, Miami Beach and the Keys all at once. And he even let me even control the parachute for a little bit. We did a couple spins and then came in for a landing.

It was an amazing experience and I was happy I was finally able to skydive; thanks Miami Skydiving!

After a thrill like that, you build up quite an appetite, so Danays and I decided to try out this place called Latin House Grill and IT.WAS.AMAZING.

Everything was made to order and it was delicious. We started off with their very own pig wings. I swear, I slid my finger down the bone and the meat just fell off. It was delicious and we had it with this tangy asian sauce that was sweet with a kick. Then we decided to pig out (no pun intended) on tacos & burgers! Danays ordered the Masitas with fish & vaca frita and I ordered the Taqueira Calle Tacos with a lettuce shell with vaca frita & Carolina bbq pulled pork. And for our burgers, we got the “muffin top” orders which comes with (2) 1/4 lb burgers so you can try different ones. I got The Champ & The Original burgers. Danays got the French & Bulgarian. And all our orders came with these amazing shaved fries. Everything was delicious!!! And what was even more cool was I struck up a conversation with Chef M because he saw me taking pictures of the art on the walls. I recognized the art because my dude Mike Suarez painted them! So it was basically an amazing lunch experience, more so because we didn’t even finish all our food. We left without even touching our tacos so we had leftovers for later!

After we left the restaurant we went home and took a much needed nap and then got ready for the night. All I was told was I had to get ready, but not wear a shirt because that was going to be provided. And I was surprised with this awesome Deadpool shirt! And if you don’t know, that is by far my favorite comic book character. I figured that we were going out to dinner and then I would meet up with some friends later.

I was mistaken.

We showed up to Coral Gables and I was led into John Martins to a surprise party of all my friends! It was a superhero themed bar crawl that Danays had set up. Probably one of the best if not THE best birthdays ever. And I even got to wear a cape!

We went from John Martins, to Fritz & Franz and ended the night at The Bar. Had a hell of a time. And there were more peeps there that I love that aren’t pictured! If you have a picture with me get at me! Thank you so much guys for coming out!

Then Sunday was pretty chillin. Took Sergeant and Danays over to the parents house for some good ol BBQ and we just hung out and had a great time.

But we definitely ended the night in no better way than with food!

We went off to George’s in South Miami and that place did not disappoint. We started off with their octopus & seared ahi tuna and then we went on to their 3 hours braised short ribs and their oriental flavored roasted salmon! Everything was amazing. The tuna was like sushi grade sashimi with avocados that just melted in your mouth and the octopus was some of the best I’ve ever had. The spices and flavoring on the salmon was way too good. I was about to steal Danays’s plate, but those short ribs doe! I put my fork into it and it just split wide open. I would definitely go back. It might be a little pricey, but they make a hell of an old fashioned & they even give you a free glass of George’s own champagne when you sit!

It was honestly one hell of week and I had a great time. Thanks for all the love that everyone showed, it was much appreciated.

My next write ups will be on Wodapalooza, Mizuno Wave Enigma 5’s & Barbell 4 Boobs Competition this coming weekend!
