…is probably one of the toughest things you can do in life.
EVERY THING was going great; you had things finally going your way; but life comes in, throws you a curve ball and it’s now when your tested whether you’re going to stay down or dust yourself off and keep pushing forward.
Recently, I had been doing awesome in my training for my next ultra. I was supposed to be headed up to Denver to participate in Becoming Ultras first ever ultra camp where you would get to wake up in the Rocky’s and just run!
My girlfriend and I (@eatingwithlittlemariii) had planned this trip months ago and wouldn’t you happen to know it, Hurricane Irma came winding through and ruined our plans. I wasn’t even prepared for the storm because since the storm was set to hit on Monday, I thought for sure we would be able to catch our original flight on Thursday at 7 in the morning.
Anyways, that week I began to taper down to get ready for the event; then the event didn’t happen because our flight got cancelled; and what do you do when you’re cooped up in a house because of a hurricane? EAT AND DRINK OF COURSE (I call this my bulking period)!
Anyways, I had decided that when the storm passed and the wreckage had been cleaned up/cleared that I would get back into my training HARD; but some time between that Saturday & Monday I pinched a nerve in my lower back and was out for an extra week.
This week I started over and it has been rough. Getting back to my normal diet, getting back to my training routine & definitely getting back to the mileage that I was used to.
But I just looked at it as just another bump in the road, another obstacle to overcome. Was I sweating/ more exhausted than I had been before? Yes! Of course! But that didn’t stop me. I’m determined. I’m determined to get back into/ get into better shape than I was before and continue on competing in my events and training for my next ultra!
Hope to see you all out there!
And if you’re ever feeling down, just remember…
YOU
CAN
DO
IT!!!
Happy trails!
