Address: 4915-A Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 3N5
For my birthday my lovely girlfriend (eatingwithlittlemariii) took me to Canada! So since I am starting my blogs/reviews on breweries, what better place to start than here! First up on the list, let’s hit up Niagara Falls, Ontario so we can pop by the Niagara Brewing Company!
It’s a cute little brewery on Clifton Hill that is very touristy and kind of reminiscent of Las Vegas; even cooler is that they are about 200m from Niagara Falls itself! This place does stand out though.
They started in 2015 and they “aim to brew beers that proudly represent Canada’s brewing heritage and today’s innovative craft beer scene. To brew the best, you need to put the best at the helm, so we put the call out to a veteran of the brewing industry.”
It is a two story open air brewery which I really enjoyed.
The weather was gorgeous that day, but we sat at the bar.
Since they had 8 beers on tap, we decided we would get (2) flights, (4) beer per flight and try them all!
Here are the explanations from the brewery:
Honeymoon Peach Radler (3.5% Alc/ 3 IBU): Niagara Falls is known as “The Honeymoon Capital of the World” and this Honeymoon Peach Radler is crafted as a tribute to all of our newlywed visitors. With an airy malt sweetness, touch of ginger, and pleasant peach finish, you’ll feel refreshed and more in love with every sip.
Amber Eh! Ale (5.0% Alc/ 28 IBU): Amber is a vivacious Canuck with a love for the wild and this Amber Eh! Ale is our tribute to her and her fellow folk from the Great White North. With a blend of toasted grain, light caramel notes, and traditional North American hops, this tasty ale offers a flavour that’s as versatile and alluring as its namesake.
Pumpkin Spiced Ale (5.1% Alc/ 6 IBU): This medium full bodied beer is like pumpkin pie in a glass. With moderate carbonation and a cloudy orange appearnce, it features a spicy aroma with notes of cinnamon. nutmeg and allspice giving way to a rich creamy pumpkin finish.
Niagara Premium Lager (4.5 Alc/ 20 IBU): Niagara Falls is celebrated for its natural beauty and force. Our Niagara Premium Lager has been crafted in honour of its awe-inspiring power. This thirst-quenching premium lager offers a clean-drinking, medium bodied brew. Distinguished by malt sweetness and a cascade of citrus flavours it’s as impressive as the mighty Niagara itself
Beerdevil IPA (6.5% Alc/ 62 IBU): Since 1859 countless thrill seekers have taken on the thundering waters of Niagara Falls with devilish style. We’ve channeled this fearlessness into our Beerdevil IPA, which blends a high hop aroma and caramel-like, toasted malt flavour. It’s bold and bracing like the daredevils it honours, proving that the risk is definitely worth the reward.
Blondins Best Bitter (4.5% Alc/ 32 IBU): Traditional English Bitter using British malt, hops and yeast. A clean bitterness is supported by a toasty, biscuit like malt foundation. Finishes with Floral, herbal hop notes with hints of stonefruit.
Hennepin Stout (4.4% Alc/ 30 IBU): No description.
Cream Ale (5.0% alc/ 12 IBU): No description.
Here’s what I thought:
Honeymoon Peach Radler: had a very crisp, refreshing aftertaste, not too sweet at all. I’m not big on fruity beers, but this was my favorite.
Amber Eh! Ale: thought this one was okay. kind of reminiscent of a Samuel Adams Boston Lager. Honestly, this one was kind of forgettable.
Pumpkin Spiced Ale: this one I actually really liked too. Went down smooth with a great aftertaste with notes of cinnamon. I really like that.
Niagara Premium Lager: this was also reminiscent of Samuel Adams Boston Lager. It was extremely light.
Beerdevil IPA: this was a VERY light IPA, was surprised by that because I’m used to hoppy, bold IPAs.
Best Bitter: took a sip of this and imagined biting straight into a fresh orange. You know that’s the truth because I’m a Florida boy. Crisp, refreshing & smooth with a great aftertaste.
Hennepin Stout: had a dry aftertaste; kind of chalky. Reminded me of Cigar City Beers.
Cream Ale: was light & crisp. I actually liked this one better than the IPA.
So all in all with the food they offered, ambiance of the brewery and the beers we were served I would give Niagara Brewing Company 4 out of 5 piggys! And honestly what boosted up this score most of all was that a street performer called upon Joe (whom I believe is the bar manager) and Joe straight up got on stage, grabbed the guitar and KILLED his performance. He had the voice of a combination of Fergie & Jesus!
