Another year means another opportunity to support St Judes Childrens Hospital by running their annual 5k event!
This year I got to run with my partner in crime eatingwithlittlemariii and what made this run even more special was because I did my 24 Hour Run For St Judes event this past year where proceeds raised went directly to St Judes!
So the event had changed dates & even location (Original event was September 23, 2017) due to Hurricane Irma tearing through South FL.
There was no early packet pick up which made the morning of the event kind of a mad house. 
But what was cool that I didn’t know about was that if you raised more than $1000.00 you were part of their VIP club for the event!
The differences between normal registration and VIP is that along with a T-shirt, you get a big ol comfy sweater as well as access to the VIP lounge where they had a bunch of goodies (fruits, drinks, pastries and bagels) available before and after the race.
The race was a quick flat course that was around the Hard Rock Stadiums parking lot. I’ve done a race similar to this one before (around the parking lot) and I didn’t like it at all. There were a ton of cut backs that makes the race seem a lot longer (and more boring) than it actually is.
But all in all, it was a great day, a great cause that we were raising money for and the reason all these people showed up in numbers to support.
Especially being someone who has gone through cancer I can say that anything you can do, no matter how big or small, can make a difference in these children’s lives.
I will be definitely doing all that I can especially now that I started my own 501c3 non-profit charity Samurai Piggy & Friends, Inc. Be sure to stay tuned for future fundraisers benefiting kids with cancer, diabetes, the special needs & the less fortunate!
