Bacon Race 2018

Address: FIU Biscayne Bay Campus: 3000 NE 151st St, Miami, FL 33181

This was a fast and fun 5k, but as the title implies… IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BACON!

We arrived (Marilyn and I) to a beautiful day with clear and sunny skies with gorgeous temperature for our run.

The race was held at FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus.

What was fun about this race (and you already know if you’ve ever raced it before) was that the theme of the race (as stated previously) is all centered around bacon. And what’s even cooler than a race that’s centered around a delicious treat? A race with a cause! That’s right, while we were out there running for some bacon, proceeds of the event went to support the charity National Voices for Equality, Education & Enlightenment (NVEEE); which is a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent bullying, violence, and suicide among youth, families and communities through direct service, mentoring and prevention education.

It was a short and quick 5k that was ran around FIUs campus and at about the half way point (1.5 miles or so) there was an aid station with both water AND bacon! The perfect pick me up to keep you going!

After the race was done and we crossed the finish and were greeted by even more bacon!

They had cooked up some regular bacon, garlic infused bacon, brown sugar bacon and bacon dipped in chocolate! Each one it’s own flavor and each one more delicious than the last.

And what’s funny is that I’m running as “Samurai Piggy” so I’m kind of the unoffical mascot of the race. LMAO!

You can bet I’m counting down the days till the next race so I can stuff myself silly after running a 5k with ALL THE BACONNNN!!!!

Till the next one my friends.

Happy trails!
